Learn to Speak the Language of Love on the French Riviera
Le Mas Candille Introduces One-Week French Course.
For travelers who wish they could speak French, Le Mas Candille is offering visitors a chance to learn, while luxuriating in this high-end hotel on the French Riviera, from February 26 to March 4, 2006. One of the newest Relais & Châteaux members, the charming hotel also boasts a Michelin-starred restaurant, all of which sounds a lot more enjoyable than the local Berlitz.
The one-week “Learn French” course will be taught by Christine Gloppe, a Sorbonne graduate who has 22 years experience teaching French to English-speaking adults and executives. She will gear the course toward beginners and intermediates, concentrating on conversational French, with some attention to grammar and punctuation.
There’s no more idyllic setting in which to learn “the language of love” than Le Mas Candille. Set on the terraced hills above Cannes, just outside the medieval village of Mougins, the luxurious hotel was transformed from an 18th-century mas or farmhouse. It is set in acres of parkland, surrounded by cypress trees and ancient olive groves, with spectacular views across the Grasse Valley to the foothills of the Alps.
When the daily 3½-hour language class is over, you can show off your newly-acquired language skills in the Candille Restaurant, which serves the finest French cuisine. Or you can relax in the hotel’s heated swimming pool and the award-winning Shiseido Spa, which provides a selection of face and body treatments. Or you can go sightseeing and shopping in Nice, Cannes, the perfume capital of Grasse and the picturesque art center of St-Paul-de-Vence. Then, too, Mougins itself is very photogenic—a sun-splashed picture of age-old streets, fountains, cafés and shops displaying bouquets of dried Provençal flowers.
The “Learn French” package costs $1,685 per person, double occupancy, and includes six nights accommodation, three meals daily, three-and-a-half hours of French lessons each day, one 30-minute spa treatment and private transfers to and from the Nice airport.
