Saint-Dizier

France, officially the French Republic, is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in Western Europe and comprises various overseas islands and territories which are located in other regions. Metropolitan France extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea, and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. At 674,843 square kilometers, France is the world's 40th-largest country after Myanmar. France is a member of The European Union and Paris is the capital of this nation. The sole official language of France is French. Since prehistoric times, France has been a crossroads of trade, migrations, and invasions.

Saint-Dizier is a town and commune in the Haute-Marne departement in the Champagne-Ardenne region of France. It has a population of 31,000 and is a subprefecture of the department. Located approximately 120 miles east of Paris, halfway to Strasbourg, it is five miles from Western Europe's largest man-made lake, Lac du Der-Chantecoq. Saint-Dizier is the birthplace of former world middleweight boxing champion Marcel Thil. A street there has been named in his honor. The land area of the city is 47.69 per square kilometers. Its population in 1999 was 30,900 and density in 1999 was 647 per square kilometers. Haute-Marne is a departement in the northeast of France named after the Marne River. Haute-Marne was one of the original 83 departements created during the French revolution on March 4, 1790. It was created from part of the former province of Champagne.

Saint-Dizier, justifiably so, enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers, and is one of the most visited place. It is also said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origin back to prehistoric times.
