Pantin




France, officially the French Republic, is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in Western Europe and comprises various overseas islands and territories which are located in other regions. Metropolitan France extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea, and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. At 674,843 square kilometres, France is the world's 40th-largest country after Myanmar. France is a member of The European Union and Paris is the capital of this nation. The sole official language of France is French. Since prehistoric times, France has been a crossroads of trade, migrations, and invasions.
 
On January 1, 1860, the city of Paris was enlarged by annexing neighboring communes. On that occasion, a small part of the commune of Pantin was annexed to Paris. On July 24, 1867, a part of the territory of Pantin was detached and merged with a part of the territory of Romainville and a part of the territory of Bagnolet to create the commune of Les Lilas. Pantin is a commune in the northeastern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 6.4 kilometres from the center of Paris. It is one of the most densely populated municipalities in Europe. Its land area is 5.01 square kilometres and its population according to July 1, 2004 was estimated 52,500. Its density according to 2004 was 10,479 per square kilometres. Pantin was once the site of Motobecane's operations. Pantin was portrayed in the award-winning French movie So Long, Stooge.
 
Pantin is divided into two cantons the canton of Pantin-Est to the east that counts 28,626 inhabitants and the canton of Pantin-Ouest to the west that counts 21,293 inhabitants. Pantin is served by three stations on Paris Metro line 5 Hoche, Eglise de Pantin, and Bobigny, Pantin – Raymond Queneau. Pantin is also served by Aubervilliers, Pantin – Quatre Chemins station on Paris Metro line 7. Finally, Pantin is also served by Pantin station on Paris RER, Reseau Express Regional line E. Presently, Pantin experiences a sharp social, economic and population growth derivative of the strategic position of the locality and the high level of well-being and quality of life that is enjoyed with respect to other places of France.
