Vitry-sur-Seine
France, officially the French Republic, is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in Western Europe and comprises various overseas islands and territories which are located in other regions. Vitry-sur-Seine is a commune in the southeastern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 7.5 kilometers from the center of Paris. Vitry-sur-Seine was originally called simply Vitry. The name Vitry comes from Medieval Latin Vitriacum, and before that Victoriacum, meaning estate of Victorius, a Gallo-Roman landowner. In 1897 the name of the commune officially became Vitry-sur-Seine meaning Vitry upon Seine, in order to distinguish it from other communes of France also called Vitry. Two stations on Paris RER, Reseau Express Regional line C, Vitry-sur-Seine and Les Ardoines serve Vitry-sur-Seine. Its land area is 11.67 kilometers, its population as of July 1, 2004 estimated 81,500. Its density in 2004 is 6,984 per kilometers.
Val-de-Marne lies to the south-east of Paris, and is, together with Seine-Saint-Denis and Hauts-de-Seine, one of three small departments in Ile-de-France that form a ring around Paris, known as the petite couronne that is inner ring. Val-de-Marne, due to its many historic events and places has been one of the favorite destinations of visitors. Due its various places of interest is one of the most visited places. Its one of the most visited places. It is also said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origins back to prehistoric times.
