Tours

France, officially the French Republic, is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in Western Europe and comprises various overseas islands and territories which are located in other regions. Metropolitan France extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. At 674,843 square kilometers, France is the world's 40th-largest country after Myanmar. France is a member of The European Union and Paris is the capital of this nation. The sole official language of France is French. Since prehistoric times, France has been a crossroads of trade, migrations, and invasions.

Tours is a city in France, the prefecture that is the capital city of the Indre-et-Loire department, on the lower reaches of the river Loire, between Orleans and the Atlantic coast. Touraine, the region around Tours, is recognized for its wines and for the perfection of its local spoken French. It is also the site of the cycling race Paris-Tours. The Council of Tours was celebrated here in 567.

The center of Tours has a population of 137,000. Tours is called Le Jardin de la France which means The garden of France. There are several parks located within the city, along with a cedar tree near the Cathedral planted by Napoleon. Tours is located between two rivers, the Loire on the north and the Cher on the south. Tours is well-known for its old part of the city called Le Vieux Tours with medieval style houses in half-timbering and Place Plumereau which is a square with pubs and restaurants full of people who dine and drink outside at tables filling the center of the square.

The inhabitants of Tours called as Tourangeaux are renowned for speaking the purest form of French in the total country. The pronunciation of Touraine is extensively regarded as the most perfect pronunciation of the French language, devoid of any accent.
