Luneville




France, officially the French Republic, is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in Western Europe and comprises various overseas islands and territories which are located in other regions. Metropolitan France extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. At 674,843 square kilometers, France is the world's 40th-largest country after Myanmar. France is a member of The European Union and Paris is the capital of this nation. The sole official language of France is French. Since prehistoric times, France has been a crossroads of trade, migrations, and invasions.
 
Luneville is a community in the French region of Lorraine. It is a sous-prefecture of the Meurthe-et-Moselle department. The population as per the 1999 census was 20,200 and the land area is 16.34 square kilometers. It is situated in northeastern France on the Meurthe River. The Treaty of Luneville was signed there on February 9th, 1801 between the French Republic and the Austrian empire by Louis, Count Cobentzel, and Joseph Bonaparte.

The most significant tourist attraction is the chateau which bared grave damage when a fire broke out in January 2003. The city is also known for its faience industry. An 18th century palace here, a residence of Stanislaus I, was damaged during World War II. The synagogue was built in 1786 thanks to Louis XVI’s express consent. The first to be built in France since the 13th C, it was classed as a historic monument in the year 1980.

A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, luxurious hotels and cottages, Luneville is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
