Lunel

France, officially the French Republic, is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in Western Europe and comprises various overseas islands and territories which are located in other regions. Metropolitan France extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea, and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. At 674,843 square kilometres, France is the world's 40th-largest country after Myanmar. France is a member of The European Union and Paris is the capital of this nation. The sole official language of France is French. Since prehistoric times, France has been a crossroads of trade, migrations, and invasions.

Lunel is a community of the Herault department, in southern France. Lunel is situated 21 kilometers east of Montpellier and 28 kilometers southwest of Nimes. This city was the birthplace of Louis Feuillade, a film director from the silent era. It is thought that the family of Rashi, the great Rabbi and commentator, originated in Lunel. Population of the city as per the 1999 census was 22,582.

Herault is a department in the southwest of France named after the Herault River and was one of the original 83 departments created during the French Revolution on March 4th, 1790. It was created from part of the former province of Languedoc. At the beginning of the 20th century, the wine-growing region was distraught, and thousands of workers appalled. This revolt was suppressed very harshly by the government of Georges Clemenceau. The disastrous frost of the winter of 1956 injured the olive trees, and the olive-growing regions did not pull through until 1980.

A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, luxurious hotels and cottages, Lunel is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
