Le Chesnay is a commune in the western suburbs of Paris, a French departement situated on the banks of the river Seine in north-central France. It is located 16.7 km. or 10.4 miles from the center of Paris. On the 1st of July 1815, Napoleon's Grande Armee fought its last battle in Rocquencourt and Le Chesnay. As of 1999, the population of Le Chesnay stood at 28,530 within an area of 4.24 square kilometers and had a population density of 6,729 inhabitants per square kilometer.
 
Le Chesnay is served by no station of the Paris Metro, RER, or suburban rail network. The closest station to Le Chesnay is Versailles, Rive Droite station on the Transilien Paris, Saint-Lazare suburban rail line.
