Colombes

France, officially the French Republic, is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in Western Europe and comprises various overseas islands and territories which are located in other regions. Metropolitan France extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. At 674,843 square kilometers, France is the world's 40th-largest country after Myanmar. France is a member of The European Union and Paris is the capital of this nation. The sole official language of France is French. Since prehistoric times, France has been a crossroads of trade, migrations, and invasions.

Colombes is a commune in the northwestern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located at about 10.6 kilometers far away from the center of Paris. The name Colombes comes from Latin columna, meaning column.

On March 13, 1896, 17 percent of the territory of Colombes was detached and became the commune of Bois-Colombes. On May 2, 1910, 19 percent of the territory of Colombes was detached and became the commune of La Garenne-Colombes. Thus, the commune of Colombes is now only two-third the size of its territory before 1896. The city is divided into three cantons, one of which is to the northeast named Colombes-Nord, second is towards the northwest named Colombes-Nord-Ouest and the third one is towards the south named Colombes-Sud.

Colombes justifiably so, enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers, and is one of the most visited place. It is also said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origin back to prehistoric times.
